Alone Among the Stars
A downloadable game
This game was primarily inspired by Alien(s) and Dark Star, with playbooks including a Cat and a Child, and a move demanding you roll dice when you get way too bored floating around in the vastness of space.
Spanning hard scifi to cosmic horror to an Alien/Predator story, the sample monster blocks include eldritch beings and eldritch minions, and I took great pains to come up with a list of 100 madnesses! Using a simple PBTA-like dice system, players roll 2d6s and add the relevant stat, and each of the four stats are tied to two opposite moves. As an experimental system, feedback is welcome!
The Player's Edition includes just the playbooks and basic moves.
Pages: 30
Players: A GM and 2+ players
System: PBTA-like using 2d6s
Inspirations: Alien(s), Dark Star, Predator, Lovecraft, Event Horizon, Star Trek

Madnesses: 100

UPDATE: After reviewing the dice system, some tweaks have been made to change stats from dice pools (2d6 to 5d6) to modifiers (+3 to -3). The previous version of the same is still available for download, but I think the update is more in line with the original design intent.

Fantastic game Litza Bronwyn! I haven't played it yet, but I hope to do so, proabably solo.
I just wanted to check that the moves are right. In two cases, it seems rolling low is better:
When you try to dodge an attack, run away, or hide, roll 2d6 plus your Body modifier.
> On a 2-6, you get away to a safe place or hide without being seen.
When you are confronted by something cosmically horrific, beyond the limits of mortal comprehension, roll 2d6 plus your Intelligence modifier.
> On a 2-5, you are disgusted or horrified and may get a minor headache, but that's it.
Minor points. Most likely my muddle! I really love all of your game ideas. Thanks!
correct! the idea is that having a high stat will make it more likely to succeed on one main move but more likely to fail on the other move using that stat. four moves are set where rolling low is better; for the other four, rolling higher is better.
i hope you have fun playing! thank you!
Thanks very much for your reply and clarification. That makes sense, and I like the way it works. Much appreciated!
This is good and you should feel good about it
thank you so much !!!!! :'D
